Hello everyone! Today I want to share a bright and cheerful shaker card with a custom background I created using Distress Inks. I actually had not planned this card when I made the background: at that point I had just bought my inks and simply wanted to play around with them. But since I liked the color combination and the blend so much I decided to make a card out of it. The colors really reminded me of a sunset at the beach – which of course is not complete without a cold drink in your hands – so I pulled out the So Smooth stamp set by Lawn Fawn and created this card!
I stamped the blender image on a piece of white heavyweight cardstock with some Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I colored it with my Spectrum Noir markers. Since the background is so warm and I knew it was gonna be a big part of my card, I decided to go for cool, complementary tones for the blender. I used CG1, CG3 and LG1 for the body, BGR1 and BGR2 for the metal parts, and OR1, GB5 and CT4 for the juice. I also added a bit of a darker shade to the juice using the tip to tip technique and the OR1 and CR10 markers.
For the background I used some Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock cut at 4.25 by 5.5″ and I blended my distress inks using the Ranger mini ink blender. I used the colors Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, Ripe Persimmon, and Fired Brick.
I then gathered up some courage 😛 and trimmed the background using my Tonic Studios dies. I first cut out a rectangle from the center of the background panel. This left me with a frame – that I will use later – and the inner panel. I also used two circular Tonic Studios dies to cut a circle and a circular frame from that inner rectangle that I had just cut out. Using the same dies I created a window for my shaker from some white cardstock. I also cut out some acetate to be larger than the shaker window.
I then glued everything together as follows: I took a piece of white cardstock cut at 4.25″ by 5.5″ and I glued down the background frame and the central circle, which will be the background for my shaker.
I used the white cardstock panel to exactly position the background. I stamped the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, I adhered the acetate sheet to the back of the white panel, and I backed everything with foam tape. With the shaker window still facing down I added a mix of sequin and glitter, and I adhered the card background. I would actually advise against using glitter for your shaker cards, because it will spill out of the little spaces that you inevitably leave between one piece of foam tape and the other, and will end up everywhere!
At this point I flipped the card over, I adhered the circular frame and the blender to the card front using my Tonic Studios Tape runner. As a final touch I added some shimmer to the blender with my Spectrum Noir clear glitter pen, and I created a frame on the very edge of the card using my white gel pen.

SFONDO PERSONALIZZATO CON I DISTRESS INK – SHAKER CARD FEAT TIMBRI LAWN FAWN E MARKER SPECTRUM NOIR
Ciao a tutti! Oggi voglio condividere una shaker card allegra e colorata, con uno sfondo personalizzato che ho creato utilizzando i miei Distress Ink. I colori di questo sfondo mi fanno pensare ad un tramonto sulla spiaggia – che va di pari passo con una bella bevanda ghiacciata – perciò ho deciso di utilizzare il set So Smooth di Lawn Fawn per la card di oggi.
Ho timbrato l’immagine del blender con l’inchiostro Memento Tuxedo Black su del cartoncino bianco, e l’ho colorata con i miei marker Spectrum Noir. Dato che per lo sfondo avevo utilizzato delle tonalità calde, per il blender ho optato per dei colori freddi per creare contrasto. Per il corpo del blender ho utilizzato CG1, CG3 e LG1, per le parti metalliche BGR1 e BGR2, e per il succo all’interno OR1, GB5 e CT4. Per scurire le ombre nel succo, ho anche aggiunto un po’ di CR10 utilizzando la tecnica del tip to tip insieme al OR1. Per lo sfondo ho utilizzato del cartoncino Bristol Smooth della Strathmore, tagliato alla misura di 4.25×5.5″, e ho sfumato i miei Distress Ink con i mini ink blender di Ranger. I colori che ho scelto sono Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, Ripe Persimmon, e Fired Brick.
Mi sono poi fatta coraggio 😛 e ho tagliato lo sfondo utilizzando le mie fustelle Tonic Studios. Per prima cosa ho ricavato un rettangolo dal centro dello sfondo. In questo modo ho ottenuto una cornice, che utilizzerò più tardi, e un pannello centrale. Da quest’ultimo ho ricavato una cornice circolare e un cerchio usando due fustelle anch’ esse di Tonic Studios. Con le stesse ho ricavato il pannello frontale della mia shaker card da del cartoncino bianco. Ho anche ritagliato un foglio di acetato ad una misura grande abbastanza da poter coprire la finestra dello shaker. Ho poi incollato tutto nel come segue: ho preso un del cartoncino bianco, tagliato alla misura di 4.25×5.5″, e vi ho incollato la cornice esterna e il cerchio centrale, che sarà lo sfondo del mio shaker. Ho utilizzato il pannello precedentemente ricavato dal cartoncino bianco per posizionare il cerchio in maniera esatta. Ho timbrato il messaggio utilizzando Memento Tuxed Black Ink, ho incollato il foglio di acetato al retro del pannello bianco, che ho poi coperto con del nastro in schiuma biadesivo. A questo punto, con lo shaker ancora rivolto verso il basso, ho aggiunto un mix di paillettes e del glitter. Ho poi fatto aderire lo sfondo al retro del pannello. In realtà vi sconsiglio di utilizzare il glitter per le vostre shaker card, perché inevitabilmente uscirà dallo shaker e finirà praticamente ovunque! A questo punto ho girato la card, incollato la cornice circolare e l’immagine del blender alla card utilizzando il mio tape runner di Tonic Studios. Come tocco finale ho aggiunto del glitter al blender con la mia penna glitter Spectrum Noir, e ho creato una cornice ai margini della card utilizzando una penna gel bianca.
