Hello everyone! Today I am back with another card for you, showcasing the Craftin Desert Divas March On stamp set, part of the July 2017 release. I think this stamp set is really unique and full of super adorable critters, just perfect for your own cute birthday parade! π
And as soon as I saw that chipmunk hanging from the balloons I thought it would be fun to make a suspended shaker, so that the image would swing, and I really love how it turned out! So let’s have a look at how I made this card! π
To start off I took a piece of Ranger watercolor cardstock and my Distress Inks in Festive Berries and Blueprint Sketch: because of the 4th of July celebrations I thought it would be fun to use the colors of the US flag. I smooshed my ink pads onto my craft mat, I diluted them with some water, and I used a flat brush to create stripes on my background. And the best part is that they don’t need to be super straight or perfect at all! π
I then went ahead and colored my images with my Spectrum Noir markers, using again reds and blues for the accents, so that all the elements on my card would match together.
At this point I prepared everything I needed to start creating the suspended shaker: I created my card base by cutting a piece of red cardstock to 4 1/4” by 5 1/2”, and layering a piece of blue cardstock cut at 4 1/8” by 5 3/8” on top of it. I then cut down the striped background to 4” by 5 1/4” and cut a window using the smallest die from the Craftin Desert Divas Inside Scalloped Circles die set. After die cutting my background I was left with a window on my panel, a scalloped circular frame, and the inner portion of the die cut background with the negative of that scalloped frame all around – hope it makes sense π
I coated the shaker window with some acetate and glued the frame to its front, and carefully glued the inner circle on my red and blue card base, making sure to align the stripes on the circle with those on my striped background.
For the suspended bit of my shaker I took some nylon thread and I used some scotch tape to secure it on the back of my flying chipmunk. I also taped it to the edges of the shaker window, making sure to leave the thread a bit loose so that the image would have room to shake around. And It’s really fun!
I then coated the back of the shaker with two layers of 3M foam tape and adhered it to my background. I also glued the rest of the images to my card front using some liquid glue.
Because I really liked the card front as it was, I decided to stamp my sentiment on the inside of the card, and to decorate it a little bit more, I also added some music notes and that incredibly adorable monkey, all from the March On set:
And I think it’s really cute that way! And here you can see the suspended shaker in action! Isn’t it fun?
And that’s it for today’s post! I really hope you liked my card, and I encourage you to join the Craftin Desert Divas July release event: we already had two giveaway winners so far, and the more people will join, the more giveaways will run! Hope to see you there and I will be back tomorrow with another card made with stamps from the new Craftin Desert Divas July release! In the meantime I wish you all a great day! Ciaooo!
