Combining Distress Inks and Oxides feat Craftin Desert Divas Harvest Wishes

Craftin-Desert-Divas-Harvest-Wishes-Card

Hello everyone! Today I am on the Craftin Desert Divas blog with a card showcasing the new Harvest Wishes stamp set. I really love all the cute images in this set, and I thought it would be super sweet to create a card showing “snapshots” of different moments of the family life of these four adorable mice. πŸ™‚
I also combined Distress Inks and Oxides on this card, and played a bit with the different looks of these media to give emphasis to certain elements with respect to others – but we will get to that later.

To start off this card I colored all the images using my Spectrum Noir markers. Because I wanted a fall-themed card I used neutral, desaturated colors.
Once I was ready with the coloring I used the Craftin Desert Divas Window Pane die to cut some white cardstock. The die cut has four open panels, that will allow me to create four different little scenes. To create a background for the scenes I took some Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock and I did some ink blending using Distress Inks. I used Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint for the grass, and Broken China and Stormy Sky for the sky. Before adhering the backgrounds behind my window panel, I inked the latter with Distress Oxide in Antique Linen.
For the sentiment I cut a banner using one of the dies in the Craftin Desert Divas Flag Banners set, and to emphasize the fall feel of this card I inked it up with Distress Oxide in Vintage Photo. I did the same on my card base, which is some heavyweight white cardstock cut at 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″.
At this point I could go ahead and adhere everything in place using some liquid glue. To add even more interest to the card I added a few pumpkin images from the Harvest Wishes set, and some Nuvo Drops in Ripened Pumpkin.
I have to say that I really love how this card turned out, and I especially like how having used the more muted Oxides on the frame and the card base adds color to the card without stealing too much attention away from the scenes, for which I created backgrounds with the brighter Distress Inks. So you can see you you can combine these media on your cards to give more or less accent to selected elements. πŸ™‚

And that’s it for today’s post! I really hope you liked this card and enjoyed this video, and I hope I inspired you to create with the sweet Harvest Wishes set. I will catch you guys soon with another fun project, and in the meantime I wish you all a great day!
