Hi everyone! Today I am back with the second installment in my Valentine 2018 card making video series!For this project I decided to make a really fun trio of heart shaped shaker cards, inspired by the current Lawn Fawnatics challenge. I used critters from three different Lawn Fawn stamp sets: the Octopi my Heart, the Winter Unicorn and the Winter Otter set, and I created cute little couples to go on each card.
I started off by stamping my images on Neenah Solar White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Spectrum Noir markers.
For the shaker backgrounds I cut some Windsor and Newton Cotman watercolor carstock using the Sizzix Heart Framelits. I used Distress Inks and the ink smooshing technique to create two ocean backgrounds , one for the octopi and one for the otters, and one sky background for the unicorns. I then added more texture with some stencils by My Favorite Things and Create a Smile Stamps.
For the shaker windows I used some Doodlebug patterned paper from the Cream and Sugar and the Kittens Smittens 6×6” paper pads, which I cut by nesting two different Heart Framelits. I filled each shaker with a mix of Sequins and sead beads. I used the Craftin Desert Divas Shimmer Mix sequins and some aqua seed beads for the shakers with the octopi and the otters, and the Fairy Dust sequin mix, also by Craftin Desert Divas, and some white seed beads.
For the sentiments I did some selective stamping using Memento ink in Tuxedo Black and in Love Letters.
I used the we belong together saying from the Lawn Fawn Milk and Cookies set for the shaker card with the otters…
For the shaker with the Octopi I used the You Octopi my Heart sentiment…
…and for the shaker card with the unicorns I changed up the sentiment that comes in the set, which reads all I want for Christmas is you, to all I want is you, so that it would work on a Valentine’s day card.
For a finishing touch I added some white gel pen detail to all my images and a bit of sparkle with my Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Pen.
