Hi everyone! Today I am back with a cheerful summer card I made for the Heffy Doodle challenge.
This was such a fun one to make! I really enjoyed building this little scene and trying to creatively use non-summer stamps on a summer card. And I think the result is really fun!
To start off I stamped my images on Neenah Solar White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Spectrum Noir and Copic markers. The bear and the umbrella come from the Heffy Doodle Beary Big Heart stamp set and the little chicks are part of the Heffy Doodle Eggcellent News stamp set. For the ice cream I used one of the images in the Lawn Fawn Snow Cool stamp set, and the little beach toys come from the stamp set included in the Create a Smile Stamps Beach Party kit.
For the scene itself I used Distress Oxides and the My Favorite Things Ocean Waves Die-Namics. I used Antique Linen and Vintage Photo for the sand, Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon for the sea, and Salty Ocean for the sky. The paper I used is Windsor and Newton Cotman Watercolor cardstock, and I also used the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches dies to cut my panels to 4 by 5.25”
I then used a die from the Craftin Desert Divas Flag Banner Dies to cut some vellum, over which I embossed my sentiment with white embossing powder. I used white embossing powder by Ranger, and the sentiment is part of the Sunny Studios Stamps Tropical Paradise set.
I added some color to my card base with Distress Oxide in Seedless Preserves and assembled everything.
For some finishing touches I added Crystal Stickles to the ice cream and Glossy Accents to the umbrella, to the egg shell (in the attempt to make it look like a floatie) and to the beach toys.
