Treasure Map with Distress Oxide feat MFT Party Like a Pirate

Hi everyone! Today I am back with a Treasure Map card I made following this week’s Sketch Challenge on the My Favorite Things blog. For my design I decided to turn the sketch around and, for a fun twist, I added the treasure map elements in place of the three stars in the original sketch, that you can see here
For my card I used the My Favorite Things Party Like a Pirate set. I stamped my images on Neenah Solar White 100lb cardstock with Memento Dew Drops in Rich Cocoa, I colored them with my Spectrum Noir markers and cut them with my EK Success Cutterbee scissors.

For the map itself I used Distress Oxides in Antique Linen and Vintage Photo and the ink smooshing technique to add color and texture to a panel of watercolor cardstock. I then roughened up the edges with a pair of scissors and blended some Distress Oxide in Vintage Photo in those areas, to make them look aged. And although I really love coloring, this for me was the most fun part of the whole cardmaking process!
For my card base and the sentiment banner I used some brown cardstock, and I blended Distress Oxide in Black Sooth on the edges of both to give them more depth and to get a cohesive design.

For the sentiment I did some stamping with Antique Linen Distress Oxide and heat embossing with clear embossing powder, and I love how the fact that the Antique Linen didn’t yield a perfect coverage gives a weathered look to the sentiment as well!
I then drew in the path to the treasure and to the skull using a medium Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen and glued all my elements in place. The pirate, the sentiment banner and the parrot are popped up with some foam squares, and the rest of the images are glued flat to my card base.

And that’s it for today! I really hope you guys liked this card and enjoyed this post!
I will be back soon with more fun projects, and, in the meantime, I wish you all a great day!
