Easy Textured Watercolor Background feat Studio Katia Mermaid for Each Other

Hi everyone! Today I am back with a card I made for the Studio Katia blog using the super adorable Mermaid for Each Other stamp set.
As a first step I stamped my images on Bristol Vellum cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink, heat embossed them with white embossing powder, and colored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I created a color chart where I listed all the markers I used, so that you can use it as a reference, in case you’d like to reproduce this card. When I was done coloring the images I die cut them with the coordinating dies.

I then started working on my background. I took some watercolor cardstock, and, using the wet on wet technique, I added some color with my Gansai Tambi (I used the pans number 38, 61 and 67). While the cardstock was still wet I added some water droplets and some kitchen salt. This little trick allows to effortlessly create a beautiful texture on your watercolor pieces.

Once the background was dry I cut it first with the rectangle die in the Darling Ribbon Creative Dies, and then used one of the dies in the Dotted Patterns – Set 1 to cut the focal panel out of the watercolor background. I used the same rectangle die and the star die in the Mini Tags 1 set to cut some white cardstock, and then layered the three panels to create a fun design on my card. For some extra dimension I popped up the central panel with some fun foam.

As a finishing touch I added some Nuvo Drops in red to create some contrast on the card.
I also recorded a video showing how I created this project- you can watch it down below. And don’t forget to subscribe to the Studio Katia channel for more inspiration from the design team.

And that’s it for today! I really hope you enjoyed the post and the video, and I hope I inspired you to create with this adorable stamp set! Thank you all so much for stopping by, and have a great day!
