Hi everyone! Today I am really thrilled to be back with a post I made as a guest designer for Gerda Steiner Designs! I find their stamps really adorable and I am so happy I had the chance to work with them!
For today’s card I used the Wheek, wheek, wheek… Guinea Pig stamp set, which is really a fun one, full of cute images and fun sentiments!
I started by stamping my images on Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then colored them with Spectrum Noir markers, trying to get a bit of texture in the Guinea Pigs’ fur, in order to make them look more cute and fluffy. It’s not very visible in the pictures but in real life you can definitely see the effect.
The set comes with coordinating dies too, but I don’t have them, so I fussy cut the images with my scissors.
I then created a little scene for my characters. For the sky I used some Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean, and for the grass I used Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn. The paper I used is Bristol Smooth Cardstock by Fabriano, which, like Strathmore Bristol Smooth, makes blending with Distress Inks really easy. In order to add some extra detail to the sky, I created a scattering of hearts by blending some white pigment ink through a stencil. I used Perfect Pearls in the color Perfect Pearl to add some subtle shine to the hearts.
I then assembled my scene, with the two guinea pigs facing each other and the salad leaves from the Wheek, wheek, wheek… Guinea Pig set added to my grassy border for a fun touch. I stamped the sentiment “I am guinea pig here for you” (so fun!) wiith Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
For the card base I used some patterned paper from the Doodlebug Hello Sunshine 6×6″ paper pad, and, for a finishing touch, I used some clear sequins, which I glued down with Ranger Multi Medium Matte adhesive,
