Back to School Card and Teacher Gift feat Studio Katia

Hi everyone! Today I am on the Studio Katia blog with a card I created for back to school, which contains a little gift for the teacher who will receive it. The present is a little bookmark that can be taken out to reveal a fun message hidden behind it, and I think this idea can be used in many occasions to create really fun cards with an extra surprise factor πŸ™‚
For the bookmark itself I used the new Bookmark Die, exclusive to the Studio Katia store, and for the panel in which it is tucked in I used dies from the Dotted Patterns Set 1 Creative Dies. This set also includes the die I used to cut the little slit for the bookmark. To create the hillsides I combined these dies with the Simple Borders Creative Dies.

To add color to the sky and the hills I used my Distress Oxides: I used Mermaid Lagoon, Tumbled Glass, Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron. I added more interest to the panels adding some water droplets, as well as some splatters with the Distress Oxides I had already used and some white acrylic paint.
The sweet Kobi image that I used today comes from the Kobi Loves School stamp set, new with the August 2018 mini release. I stamped it on Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers. Here is a color chart for you to use as a reference, where I listed all the markers I used.

I die cut the image of Kobi with the coordinating dies, and started working on my card base again. I first assembled the bookmark by gluing the hillside to the sky. I then used one of the dies in the Dotted Patterns Set 1 dies to cut a slit on the larger hillside, where I will tuck my bookmark. I extended the slit just a bit using a craft knife, and then glued the hillside to the main panel.

I stamped the sentiment on my bookmark using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I made sure that the word “teacher” was be low enough to be hidden once the bookmark is in place on the main panel.
I also glued the image of Kobi on the bookmark, and threaded some ribbon through one of the eylets on the top.

I added a sentiment and some more images on the sky on my main panel as well. These will be revealed only once the bookmark is removed, for a really fun surprise effect!
I die cut the word teacher using the new Teacher Script Die and ink blended some Distress Oxides in Candied Apple and Fired Brick on top. I stacked several die cuts so that I would get a dimensional effect.

For the card base I cut some red cardstock to an A2 size using the Darling Ribbon and Frames Dies and I created my own patterned paper. I arranged some of the small images in the Kobi Loves School set on my round acrylic block and stamped them repeatedly on the card base using Versamark ink. I then heat embossed them with white embossing powder.
I raised the main panel over the card base with some fun foam, and added some of the July Crystals around the teacher die cut.

I mounted everything on a top folding A2 card base, and decorated the inside by stamping some of the smaller images in the Kobi Loves School set with Distress Oxide in Candied Apple.

I also created a video where I show the step by step process, you can watch it down below.

And that’s it for today! I really hope you enjoyed this project, and I hope I inspired you to create with the wonderful Studio Katia August 2018 mini release!
Thank you all so much for stopping by, and have a great day!
