Cards with Glimmer Hot Foil Club Spellbinders

Hi everyone! Today I am back with some inspiration with the brand new Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month by Spellbinders. Unfortunately the kit has already sold out, but you can still get the Red Foil Roll on the Spellbinders store, where you can also find many beautiful Glimmer Hot Foil Plates designs. I also thought that it would be nice to share inspiration with the kit for those you managed to get it before it sold out. If you didn’t don’t worry – there will be a brand new kit coming out in February! I can’t wait to see it!

For today’s post I created two cards using the products from the kit and the You’re my Type stamp set in the Spellbinders January 2019 Card Kit of the Month. This is one of the add-ons in the kit, which means you can also get it separately (you can check it out here).
Please not that in order to use the Glimmer Hot Foil Plates you will need the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System. I think it is a great addition to your craft room, and the more I use it, the more I fall in love with it! You can find it on the Spellbinders store, if you don’t have one yet.

And now let’s have a look at today’s cards

Clean and Simple Card with Glimmer Hot Foil Club Spellbinders

For the first card I used the Red Foil Roll to foil some pink cardstock. I then trimmed the panel to 3″ 3/4 by 5″ 1/2.

I then heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder over a strip of wine red cardstock. I cut some dark gray cardstock to the same size and layered the two strips.

I then cut some more red and gray carstock and created four strips, each measuring approximately 5″ 1/2 by 1/2″. I framed the focal panel with the strips and foam mounted it on a white top folding A2 card base.

I adhered the sentiment strip and that finished off card number one. With such a gorgeous and intricate plate design you can very quickly create stunning cards with a clean and simple look!

Foil Resist Card with Distress Oxides and Glimmer Hot Foil Club Spellbinders

For card number two I used the foil resist technique in two different ways and again the plates from the January Glimmer Hot Foil Club.

I started off by foiling the heart and the frame on two separate sheets of watercolor cardstock and then used the foil resist techique to add color to them.

The first way in which I used this technique was blending Distress Oxides with a Blending Brush over the foiled heart. I used Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Festive Berries. I blended the inks using a very light hand and buffed off the excess with a microfiber cloth.

The second way in which I used the foil resist technique was to do some watercoloring over the panel with the foiled heart frame. I wet the panel with some water and used Distress Oxide in Festive Berries and a large watercolor brush to create an ombre effect.

Once the panel was dry I added some droplets with Festive Berries Distress Oxides and the white pan in my Gansai Tambi watercolor palette. I then trimmed it down to 4 1/8″ by 5 3/8″.

I then used the heart die in the Spellbinders Large Die of the Month kit to die cut the heart and an opening inside the frame. Coming back to the card, I stamped the sentiment from the with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I matted the watercolor panel with black cardstock and raised the central heart over some foam tape.
