Altenew March 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi everyone! Today I am really excited to be back with a post for the Altenew March 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release Blog Hop! This release is full of fabulous products and today I have two cards to share, together with a video and some giveaways too! If you are interested, you can find all the products on the Altenew store.

For my first card I decided to go for a traditional watercolor look. The stamp set I am using is the gorgeous Wallpaper Art Stamp Set – this one comes with coordinating dies and a coordinating stencil too! The stencil has both the positive and the negative outline of the florals, so that you can use it for both stencil techniques and masking.

For this first card I started by stamping my images with Scrapbook.com Premium Hybrid Black ink on Canson XL watercolor cardstock. I then did some watercoloring with Gansai Tambi Watercolors.
Once I was done painting I cut the florals with the Wallpaper Art Coordinating Dies and set them aside, while I was working on my background.

I cut some more Canson XL watercolor cardstock to a standard A2 size and added some splatters with the same Gansai Tambi pans I used to pain the flowers. I also added some gold splatters with the gold paint in the Gansai Tambi watercolor set for some added sparkle.

I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder over some black cardstock and glued everything to my card base. For some extra detail I drew in stitched lines along the sides of my card base. I mounted everything on a top-folding A2 card base and that finished off my card.
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I have a video tutorial for you, showing how to create this elegant watercolor floral card with the Altenew Wallpaper Art stamps and dies. You can watch it down below or directly on my YouTube channel

For my second card I paired the Altenew Wallpaper Art stamps with the One Day at the Time Stamp Set. This is a great set to build your backgrounds and has some gorgeous encouraging sentiments – such a wonderful one to add to your stash!

The bold look of the Wallpaper Art stamps and the great designs on the One Day at the Time set inspired me to create a graphic-looking card. This card features lots of contrast and some non blended shading on the flowers, which is really easy to create and is a great way to add color and dimension to images, even if you don’t feel very confident with your coloring skills.

I started by creating a floral cluster on the bottom left of the card. I used the Wallpaper Art Mask Stencil for my masking and Scrapbook.com Premium Hybrid Black Ink for the stamping. The paper is Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock. I also went ahead and stamped the sentiment as well as the background, using stamps from the One Day at the Time set.
After I was done stamping I did some coloring with Nuvo Alcohol Markers. I used really bright reds and greens to create lots of contrast with the neutral background. Using a T-square ruler and a Copic Multiliner I drew a frame all around the edges of my card front. I glued it to an A2 size card base and that finished off card number two.

Wonderful! I can't seem to get such deep, rich reds with my watercolors, so I may need to try the Gansai. Both cards really show off the new Wallpaper Art set beautifully.

So incredibly lovely. I love the use of the marbled background – the bright colours and bold shape of that big bloom looks wonderful on the soft marbling.

Hi Laura, just thought I would let you know that I was inspired by your first card example when I wanted to create an 5 x 8.25" tag for a sick friend. I made two tags at the same time. One for her and one for me because I knew as I was working on it that it would become the first page in a flower journal for this spring and summer. It is posted on my facebook page (my artwork is all posted as public so you don't have to friend me to see it) and I tagged you. thanks as always for sharing.

Thanks for Sharing Your Thoughts! :)
