Hi everyone! Today I am back with a card and a step by step photo tutorial I created for the Impronte d’Autore blog.
I started off this cardby stamping one of the images in the set Avventure da Castoro by Impronte d’Autore with Tuxedo Black ink and with the help of Stella, the Impronte d’Autore stamp platform.
I then colored the beaver with Nuvo markers and cut it with the coordinating dies. I used markers in the sets Cookies & Cream and Natural Browns for the beaver and markers from the sets Fragrant Oranges and Sunshine Yellows for the floatie. The paper I used is Neenah Classic Crest by Crafters Companion.
I then decided to create a background that resembed a pool for my cute little beaver and I decided to try to dreai it directly with my Nuvo markers.
I took a piece of Neenah Solar White paper and started drawing some irregular shapes with marker number 360, leaving some white areas between each shape .I then darkened the centers of each “cell” with markers number 363 and 369 (all from the marker set Aquamarine). I glazed the whole panel (inluding the white areas) with a BT2 Spectrum Noir marker. As last step, I added some definition to the areas between the cells with a white gel pen.
If you look at it by itself it doesn’t feel like much…
…but once we combine it with our cute beaver and one of the Lawn Fawn Selfie Frames it all starts to make sense! It’s all a matter of context π
I then created a banner with the Flags die by Impronte d’Autore and another design from the Doodlebug Rainbow Dot Stripes paper pad. I die cut a second banner from some black cardstock and I used it to create a drop shadow effect under the pink banner.
The sentiments are part of the Avventure da Castoro stamp set. I embossed them with white embossing powder over some black cardstock and die cut them with the coordinating dies. I glued theme here and there on my card, trying to add some movement to the rather geometric design I had at that point.
I then moved on and started adding some embellishments. I created some drops with Nuvo Drops in Morning Dew, added glitter to the water and the floatie with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Pen and i coated the floatie, the beaver’s glasses and its nose with Glossy Accents.
Because I felt that the beaver was not standing out enough, I decided to create a drop shadow under the white polaroid frame. I die cut some black cardstock with the Lawn Fawn Selfie Frames and I trimmed away the portion that I needed to create the drop shadow.
I glued the black border under the white Selfie Frame and I think this made all the difference in making the beaver the real focal point of this card!
