Watercolor Northern Lights the Easy Way | LDRS Creative Otterly Lovable

Hi everyone! Today I am back with a card and a video sharing some tips on how to create an easy watercolor northern lights sky – it looks great and it’s SO quick and easy to make!
The stamps I used today are from the LDRS Otterly Lovable stamp set (LDRS | SBKCOM) and yes, they are otterly lovable!

I started my card by creating the sky. I scribbled a piece of watercolor cardstock with some watercolor markers, creating a few green stripes to represent the northern lights. I then spritzed the panel with some water and left it aside to dry. Make sure to check the video out if you want to see this process in detail. Once the background was dry I added stars with some metallic watercolors.

I created a hill border with the Over the Hills die set (LDRS | SBKCOM) and added added some shading to them with the same watercolor markers.
I then die cut my scene elements with the Scalloped Circle Frame dies (LDRS | SBKCOM), that I also used to create a frame out of some black cardstock.

The images, from the Otterly Lovable stamp set, were stamped with LDRS Raven ink and colored with alcohol markers. Once I was done coloring, I die cut them with the coordinating dies (LDRS | SBKCOM).

I layered a panel of watercolor cardstock cut to 4 1/8″ by 5 3/8″  with a sheet of black cardstock cut to the standard 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″, adhered all the elements in place and stamped my sentiment with Raven ink by LDRS.
