Winter Scene Card feat Heffy Doodle | Mix and Match Your Stamps

Hi everyone! Today I am back with another scene card, this time directly from the South Pole! There is also a video tutorial at the end of this post, if you are interested in seeing how you can create this card, too!

For my scene today, I combined images from the Wanna Build a Snowman  and the Warm Hugs (SBC | HD) sets. I love mixing and matching stamp sets, it is a great way to stretch your supplies and it also allows you to add extra details and elements to your cards. And all Heffy Doodle stamps work so well together!

Moving on to the card, I started by creating the landscape elements. For the sky panel I die cut some watercolor cardstock with the rectangle die in the Heffy Doodle Clover Frames dies (SBC | HD). I combined the same rectangle die with the Stitched Slopey Joes (SBC | HD) in order to in order to create two snowy hills out of some more watercolor cardstock.

I then did some ink blending on these panels using my Spectrum Noir Harmony Inks and some blending brushes. I used Lagoon, Parakeet and Oasis on the sky and Baby Blue on the hills. I sprayed the sky with some clean water to re-activate the inks and create a distressed look.

I then moved on and started working on my images. I stamped them on Neenah Solar White cardstock with Spectrum Noir Black Alcohol Proof Ink and colored them with my Illustrator markers. I chose a limited color palette, with some yellow green accents that I felt would contrast nicely with the colors I had on my background. Once I was done coloring, I die cut all the images with the coordinating dies. Here is a color chart for you, with a list of the markers I used.

At this point I decided to add some extra detail to the sky, so I took the snowflake images in the Warm Hugs stamp set, stamped them with white pigment ink over the entire sky, and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.
For my sentiment I used stamps in the Wanna Build a Snowman stamp set, which I stamped with Memento ink in Pear Tart and die cut with the coordinating dies.

I used some foam tape to adhere the hills to the sky, in order to add interest and dimension to the card. I created my little scene with the penguins playing in the snow, making sure to add some shading under each image with my Illustrator markers. This way the images look more grounded and more like they are actually part of the scene.

I coated the snowman and the iglo with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay pen, which added some nice shimmer to those areas. I used Nuvo Drops in White Blizzard on the Christmas tree baubles, on the sleigh and on the penguins’ hats.  I created some highlights with a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen, mounted the card on a top-folding A2 card base, and that finished off my card.
