Spring Floral Card | Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive

Hi everyone! It’s Laura here, and today I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop!

The goal of this Card Drive is to send cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes or shelters to let them know they’re not forgotten. If you are interested in joining, you can check out the Celebrating Parents Card Drive post on the Altenew blog. I hope you will join and, if you do, please be safe! 🙂

For my card today I decided to use the super fun Weekend Doodles stamp set [ALT | SBC] and to go for a clean and simple look. Let’s have a look at how I created it!

IMAGES

I started the card by stamping the largest image in the Weekend Doodles set on a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock. I also added some small leaves in the opposite corner to balance off the design.
The panel measures 4 x 5.25 inches, and for my stamping I used Spectrum Noir Finesse alcohol proof black ink. I chose a nice and bright color palette and started coloring the image with my Illustrator markers. Here is a list of colors I used:

Petals: PV4, PV3, PV2, PV1
Flower Center: BO4, BO3, BO2, GY2
Leaves: GT3, GT2, GT1

BACKGROUND

I wanted to go for a super clean look for my card today, so the only thing I added to the background were some black droplets. To create them pressed my Distress Ink in Black Soot over my glass mat to release some of the ink and I then diluted it with some water. I picked up the ink with my paintbrush and flicked it over the card, protecting the images with a scrap piece of paper.

SENTIMENT AND FINISHING TOUCHES

Because we are celebrating parents today, I thought that the greeting in the The Best Thing stamp set [ALT | SBC] was just perfect for this card. I am very grateful for everything that my parents do for me, and this sentiment felt just perfect to express what I feel about them.
I stamped part of the sentiment directly on my card front and embossed the rest with white embossing powder over a strip of black cardstock.

I mounted the stamped panel on an A2 sized card base and moved on to the finishing touches. I added some sparkle to the flowers and to the edge of the card base with a Scrapbook.com Glitter Brush pen. I also added some white highlight to the images with a white gel pen. To finish off the card, I glued some iridescent bubbles around the image and the sentiment.
