Hi everyone! Today I am back with two super easy and super colorful bookmarks, createdd with Distress Crayons and the A Magical Birthday stamp set by Impronte d’Autore. Given the extraordinary circumstances, I wanted to bring smiles and colors to your day and, IMHO, there is nothing better for that than unicorns and rainbows!
background
As a first step, I created the background. I started from some watercolor cardstock, that I die cut to roughly 4.25×5.5 inches. I then took the Distress Crayon included in the Set number 1 and I scribbled them on my cardstock following rainbow order. I used Picked Raspberry, Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers, Twisted Citron, Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade. I used a light hand and colored at an angle for extra interest.
I then sprayed the panel with some water and lightly blended the background with a flat brush. I wanted to have a bit of a softer look, but still retain most of the texture on my background.
I then used the Tag dies by Impronte d’Autore to create two bookmarks. I die cut the rainbow background with the smaller die in the set and I obtained two separate panels. I then used the larges die to cut some smooth white cardstock for the base of the bookmarks. I created a custom patterned paper effect by stamping the stars in the A Magical Birthday stamp set with Distress Oxide in Weathered Wood.

The next step is to stamp and color the images. In this case I used Nuvo Alcohol Markers by Tonic Studios. Here is the list of markers I used
- Body: 489, 487, 425
- Muzzle: 478, 475, 472
- Horn: 425, 443, 436
- Tail: 443, 437, 436
sentiment and finishing touches
I created some vellum clouds with the Tagย and Bordo Nuvoleย dies, and I glued them to the base of my bookmarks.
I heat embossed two sentiments with white embossing powder on black cardstock and I rounded the corners of my banners with aย Corner Chomper.
I glued everything to the base of my bookmarks and threaded some white and gray bakers twine through their eyelets.
And that’s it for today! I really hope you enjoyed the post and the project! These bookmarks are really quick and easy to make, and the process lends itself really well to mass production: you just need to start from a larger watercolor cardstock panel!
Big virtual hugs to you all!
