Easy Background with Oxide Sprays | Altenew 6th Anniversary Blog Hop + Giveaway

EASY BACKGROUND WITH OXIDE SPRAYS - ALTENEW CHERISHED MEMORIES

Hi everyone! Today I am joining Altenew in the celebrations for their 6th anniversary! There is a blog hop with SO MUCH inspiration and a lot of giveaways, too!

I will tell you more about it at the end of this post, but for now let’s take a look at how I created today’s card!

IMAGES

EASY BACKGROUND WITH OXIDE SPRAYS - ALTENEW CHERISHED MEMORIES

The images I used are part of the Cherished Memories stamp set – one of my favorites from Altenew! I stamped them with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Proof Black Ink on Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock and I colored them with Illustrator markers. Here is a list of the markers I used

  • Flowers: TB8, TB6, TB3, TB1, LV1
  • Leaves: GY5, GY2, GY1, CT4, LY1

Once I was done coloring, I die cut everything with the coordinating dies.

I then moved on and started working on my background.
I die cut some watercolor cardstock with the Leaf Frame Cover Die and added color to it with Distress Inks. I used Scattered Straw, Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed and Wild Honey. I randomly blended the inks here and there on the frame and also swiped the ink pads directly on the paper.

I then cut some more watercolor cardstock and very quickly created a background with Distress Oxide Sprays in Tumbled Glass and Chipped Sapphire. I waited for the inks to dry and then adhered everything to my card base.

SENTIMENT AND FINISHING TOUCHES

EASY BACKGROUND WITH OXIDE SPRAYS - ALTENEW CHERISHED MEMORIES

For the sentiment I used the Fancy Hello die and one of the greetings in the Cherished Memories stamp set.
I stamped the saying “holding you in my heart” (so appropriate these days) with blue ink on white cardstock. I rounded the corners of my banner with a Corner Chomper.
I die cut the word hello out of blue and white cardstock, and ahdered the die cuts slightly shifted with respect to each other. This way I created a shadow that also helps the sentiment stand out from the background

I added a few highlights with a white Gelly Roll Pen and that finished off my card.
