Altenew April 2020 Stamps/Dies/Stencils/Stamping Mat/Sequins Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi everyone! Today I am SO excited to be back with THREE cards I created for the new Altenew Release blog hop! This release is absolutely amazing and I was so thrilled to be able to create with some of the new goodies! I have three one layer cards and a video for you, I hope you’ll enjoy my inspiration!

card 1 – Coloring florals with alcohol markers

For my first card I used the super gorgeous Statement Flowers. I stamped it on a pre-cut Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock card front and I did some coloring with my Illustrator markers. Notice how I have the flowers slightly hanging off the card front, for extra interest.

Since I do not have lots going on on the card, I tried to go for a bright, contrasting color palette that would catch the viewer’s attention. Here is a list of the markers I used

  • Petals: GY5, GY3, CT4, CT2, LY1
  • Flower Center: TN3, TN7, TN5, TN9, EB8
  • Leaves: BT9, BT5, BT3
  • Shadow: IG3, IG1

I then created a frame around my card front using a Faber Castell black fineliner and a ruler. The frame is drawn at 1/4″ from the card front edge.

As a last step, I stamped one of the sentiments from the Just Jasmine stamp set with black ink and I mounted everything on a pre-cut and pre-scored card base.

card 2 – EASY card with stenciled background

The second card is really quick and easy to make, but I love the way it turned out! It features some masking and ink blending and just the tiniest amount of coloring.

I started by creating a banner in the center of the card front using stamps in the Envelope Art set. The set allows to create different banner designs and it is so easy to use! Everything lines up perfectly and you can use it on cards as well as on envelopes. I also added some shading to the banner using my IG5, IG3 an IG1 Illustrator markers (cool greys), to add some dimension.

Next, I created some masks for the banner, so that I could do some ink blending on the background. For the masks I use removable packaging labels and I decided to use the Floral Wallpaper stencil, because of its whimsical feel. The ink I chose for my blending is Altenew ink in the color Baby Pink.

Next, I stamped the sentiment using one of the greeting stamps in the Envelope Art set. I added some shimmer to the banner with a glitter brush pen and I hand drew a black frame on the card front with a black fineliner.
I mounted everything on an A2 card base and that finished off card number two.

card 3 – coloring over stencils

For the third card I used the magnificent Mega Bloom stencil. This is such a great product to create quick yet stunning cards and I love how this one turned out!

I started again from a pre-cut card front, where I blended the flower in the Mega Bloom stencil with Altenew inks in the colors Baby Pink and Fuchsia. To add even more depth to the image, I added some shading with my Illustrator makers in the colors PV3 and PV5.

Today is the day of hand drawn frames: I added one on this card too, this time trying to make it look like a picture frame. I shaded both the frame and the area inside it with some cool gray Illustrator markers (IG6, IG4, IG2, IG3, IG1).

I finished off the card by stamping one of the sentiments in the Fancy Greetings stamp set and by adding some sequins from the Make a Statement bundle.
