Hello everyone! Today I want to show you a card that I made using my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and a very sweet set of stamps by My Favorite Things, called “Ewe are the best”. As soon as I got it in the mail I thought about this design, and I have literally being dying to try it! I am really enjoying making custom backgrounds, because it gives me the possibility to experiment with coloring and painting…lots of fun!
My card base is a standard US A2 size which I cut out from white cardstock using my paper trimmer.
For the card front I cut some more white cardstock to be slightly smaller than my card base. I then repeatedly stamped one of the sheep in the stamp set using Memento tuxedo black ink, trying to change the orientation of my stamp, in order to get a somewhat random pattern. I then colored in all the sheep using some greys for the wool (IG1 and IG4), light browns for the muzzle and legs (EB1 and EB2), and some darker browns for their little feet (EB7 and EB8). I tried to shade the images by putting down the darker shades around the edges and then blending it towards the center with the lighter shades. I then stamped one more sheep on a separate piece of white card stock, and colored the wool using some bright pink markers (BP2 and BP6), the muzzle and legs using again some light browns (EB1, EB2 and a bit of FS6 to add a warmer tone), and finally some darker browns (TN8) for the feet. I cut the image using my scissors and ran a black marker around its edge, so that the cut looks clean. As a finishing touch I added some sparkle to the wool using my clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen.
For the sentiment banner I used one of the dies from the Lawn Fawn “Tag, you’re it” die set, so that I would have a clean result for the fish tail. I did some partial die cutting, because I wanted my banner to be longer than the actual size of my die, and I adjusted the dimension of the banner using my paper trimmer.
For the actual sentiment I used the word “EWE” from this stamp set, whereas the words “are” and “one of a kind” come from a different set, also from My Favorite Things, called “Magical Unicorns”. I did some masking using Post-it notes, inked up the portions of the sentiments that needed using with Versamark ink, and coated them with white embossing powder. I then heat-set the sentiment with my heat gun.
I cut some pink cardstock to be the same size as my card base, and assembled my card front, gluing everything down with some white glue. And here it is 🙂 isn’t it adorable?
I also wanted to tell you that I am taking part in the coloring challenge hosted at www.thedailymarker.com. The task is color something every day throughout the month of March, even just part of an image. The point is to find some time to relax every day, even if only for five minutes. If you want to see my entries for the challenge, you can do so by following me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram 🙂 It’s gonna be loads of fun!
I hope you enjoyed today’s post. I wish you a great day and I will catch you guys soon!
