FFC #194 feat The Paper Shelter – Watercoloring with White Nights watercolors

Hello everyone! Friday has finally come, which also means that it is time for another challenge over at the Jo’s Scrap Shack blog! This week’s sponsor is The Paper Shelter, and by taking part to the challenge you have the chance to win a $15 voucher for their store.

This week’s challenge has the optional twist of using the colors orange, red, and aqua. For my card I used the Pineapple digital stamp, and because it has such a romantic look I thought it would be fun to color it with my White Nights watercolors. If you haven’t heard about these watercolors and are curious about them, you can check my first impressions post and video.
I printed my digi on some Windsor and Newton watercolor paper cardstock; I recently got a Canon Pixma printer for quite reasonable price and I am super happy with it! Before I used to print my digital images at a local store, but having a printer at home is quite convenient. And the great thing about this printer is that it can handle very heavy weight cardstock, and you have the option of printing with both dye and pigment inks, which work respectively with alcohol and water based media! It was exactly what I was looking for!
Anyways, after having painted my image with watercolors, I came in with my Prismacolor pencils to add a little bit of depth and detail in certain areas, and this little touch really made the whole painting look much more three-dimensional!
I then used the MFT Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Frame Die-Namics to cut down the watercolored piece, as well as some orange card stock from the Crafters’ Companion Astrobrights collection. For my card base I used some vanilla cardstock, to which I adhered both the frame and the central panel. The sentiment comes from the Create a Smile Stamps Clear Botanical Love set, and I stamped it using Memento Ink in London fog.
And that’s it for this post!I really hope you liked my card and I hope I will see your creations over at the Jo’s Scrap Shack blog! Just make sure to follow the challenge rules included below in order to be eligible to win!
