Gatefold Treasure Map Card with Distress Inks for the Craftin Desert Divas and Card Magazine Summer Blog Hop

Hello everyone! Today I am quite excited to be here, as this post is part of an amazing blog hop hosted by Craftin Desert Divas in collaboration with Card Maker magazine. I will tell you more about this at the end of this post – there is a really amazing prize for one of you guys!
For such a great occasion I wanted to make something really special, and I decided to try my hand at a gatefold treasure map using some super fun digital stamps by Craftin Desert Divas. And I have to tell you, I am really happy about how this one turned out!
The open card measures 11″x4 1/4″, and it is scored at 2 3/4″ and at 8 1/4″, so that when the flaps are closed the card measures a standard 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″.
And here’s how it looks when it’s folded:

To keep the card closed I created a “belt” which measures 1″ by 12″, and which I scored at 2 7/8″ and at 8 5/8″. I folded it at the score lines, glued the loose ends together and used the little pirate girl to hide the seam.

To make it easier for you to follow along I also created a video, you can watch it on my YouTube channel by clicking here!
And if you like it, don’t forget to let me know in the comments, leave me a thumbs up and subscribe to my YouTube channel!

If you liked this project and you wanted to give it a go, I prepared a **FREE treasure map template**  that you can check out and download at this link. Please don’t redistribute the downloadable files, but link to the original post in case you want to share them with your crafty friends! What a unique idea. Your colors are just perfect. For Christmas a couple years ago we gave our granddaughter and her family a pirate ship tour which they loved. I want to use your wonderful map when I scrapbook this page for them. Thanks for this wonderful idea.

What an unusual card. I've not seen something like this before. I loved that you used a "belt" to keep the card closed so the recipient opens it like a package.
