Using Glitter Paper to Render Water – Bright and Fun Card feat Craftin Desert Divas Summer Vibin Stamps

Hello everyone! Today I am very excited to be on the Craftin Desert Divas blog with a card I made using images from the Summer Vibin’ stamp set, part of the Craftin Desert Divas July release.
Summer is hands down my favorite season, so it’s no surprise that I love this stamp set so much: it makes me feel like I’m on the beach! And for my card today I wanted to give the feeling that these adorable critters were chilling in a swimming pool or in the sea – so let’s have a look at how I achieved that! πŸ™‚
To begin with I colored all the images with my Spectrum Noir markers, and I cut them using my Silhouette Portrait. For my card layout I took some white cardstock trimmed to 4″ by 5 1/4″, and I used the smallest die from the Inside Scalloped Circles Dies set to cut three openings on my card front. I then covered the back of these openings with some light blue glitter paper to give the impression of water. And I really like the effect: it reminds me of the shine that the sea has on a sunny summer day!

At this point I went ahead and adhered my critters to the windows I created, making sure to tuck them in slightly, because I think this gives a more dynamic feel to the card. I also glued the sun and the cocktail glass to the front of my card for an added touch of summer! πŸ™‚
I choose to use the Summer Vibin’ sentiment as I thought it went very well with the feel of the card, and I created a banner by combining two of the dies in the Flag Banner Dies set as shown in the picture below

I then glued down my card front on a yellow A2 card base and, as a final step, I coated the pool floats with some Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew to give them a more realistic look and add a bit of dimension to my card. And I really love the way it looks!

And that’s my card for today! I really hope you like it, and I hope I inspired you to create with this amazing stamp set! You can visit the original post on the Craftin Desert Divas blog for the list of products I used. Have a great day!
