You Can Do Magic – Encouragement Card for the Create a Smile Stamps Challenge

Hi everyone! Today I am super excited to be back here on my blog, as it is time for a new card making challenge over at the Create a Smile Stamps blog! We really enjoyed seeing all the wonderful projects that were entered in the previous challenge, and we are siper curious to see what you will be creating this time around! So, without further ado, let’s get started with our second challenge!

The challenge theme inspired me to create an encouragement card, and I decided to combine the Message in a Bottle stamp set with one of the sentiments in the Magical Flowers stamp set. This card would be perfect to give to someone special who’s going through a rough time, to remind them of all the wonderful things they are capable of!

To start off, I stamped my images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on some Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored them with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers. I added glitter to the genie with a Spectrum Noir clear overlay pen and a few highlights with a white gel pen.
For the background I used the ink smooshing technique with Distress Oxides in Faded Jeans, Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet. The background panel itself is some Windsor and Newton Cotman Watercolor cardstock that I cut with a die by Avery Elle. For the stars I mixed some glitter to my Ranger texture paste, and I applied it over the background using the Waves of Stars stencil and a spatula. I left it aside to dry.
I then used the Pierced Ovals Creative Cuts to cut some heavyweight white cardstock. For some extra subtle detail I stamped the Sophisticated Shells background stamp with Versamark ink over the oval die cut as well as my white card base. It’s not very noticeable in the pictures, but in real life it adds a really nice touch! I stamped my sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and, for some added dimension, I adhered the oval die cut to my background with some foam tape.
And that’s it for today! I really hope you liked this card and enjoyed the post! Don’t forget that you can enter your projects using at least one Create a Smile Stamps product for a chance to win a 25€ gift certificate to the Create a Smile Stamps Shop (check out their freebies in case you’d like to play along and you don’t own any of their products…yet 😛 ). You can find the challenge guidelines and more information on how to play along on the Create a Smile Stamps blog, as well as some really wonderful inspiration from the whole design team!
