Tonic Studios Mica Mists First Impressions and Card Inspiration

Hi everyone! Today I am back with a post and a video in which I will share with you my first impressions on the new Tonic Studios Mica Mists.
These are a liquid product which comes is spray bottles and allows to add fun effects to your projects. The Mica Mists were released in six different colors and have mica powders mixed within the pigments, which make them really shimmery.  I recently purchased all of them and decided to film a first impression review, where you can see me play around and experiment with them. If you are curious, you will find the link at the end of this post πŸ™‚

During my experiments I created several backgrounds and I thought it would be fun to use them on some cards. I showed the cards in the video, and here I will describe in a little bit of extra detail what products I used in each of them.

For this friendship card I used the Tonic Studios Layering Circles die set to cut two circles from two of my backgrounds, and I used those as a focal point.
The backgrounds were created on Canson XL watercolor cardstock with Nebula Blue and Fresh Pear (large circle) and Fresh Pear and Turkish Rose (small circle)
I cut the white base with the largest die in the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables and for the sentiment I used the Mama Elephant Hello Friend Script Creative Cuts (thanks to my sweet friend Alexandra for gifting it to me <3 ). I glued the sentiment on a strip of vellum and used black Enamel Accents by Ranger for the dot on the “i”.
For this background I used the Create a Smile Stamps Waves of Stars stencil and some Texture paste by Ranger on some black cardstock before applying my Mica Mists in Silver Smoke and Antique Gold. I then trimmed it to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and glued it on a piece of black cardstock cut at a standard A2 size. I used the Craftin Desert Divas Stitched In Circles dies to cut some vellum, and the Lawn Fawn Scripty For You die for my sentiment. As a final touch I added some Gold Foil Stars Sequins by Studio Katia.
For this celebration card I used the background I had created on watercolor cardstock with the Turkish Rose and the Violet Lustre Mica Mists. I cut it with the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches die and I the used a Heart Die by Sizzix to cut a heart out of it. I adhered the heart slightly shifted on my background using foam squares. I then matted the panel on some black cardstock cut at a standard A2 size and used the My Favorithe Things Celebrate Die-Namics for the sentiment.

For this thank you card I heat embossed the Create a Smile Clustered Leaves on some kraft cardstock using Ranger Weathered White embossing powder. After having added Mica Mists in Silver Smoke and Antique Gold I trimmed down the panel using the largest die in the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Frames. I cut the sentiment using the Create a Smile Twice the Thanks die out of some vanilla cardstock and I heat embossed the whole sentiment with Weathered White Embossing Powder. I added a touch of Mica Mists in Antique Gold and Silver Smoke to the sentiment as well and I glued it on my card base.

For this card I used the background I created on black cardstock with the Mica Mista in Antique Gold and Silver Smoke. I cut it using the Avery Elle Wonky Stitched Dies and glued it on an black panel cut at 4 1/4 by 5 1/2″. I used the Twice the Thanks Die-Namics by My Favorite Things to cut my sentiment out of some gold cardstock and glued it to my background.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, i filmed a first impression video for the Mica Mists, where I show you how I created all these wonderful backgrounds. If you are curious you can watch it on my YouTube channel.

And that’s it for today! I really hope you enjoyed this post, and I hope you found my first impression video on the Tonic Studios Mica Mists useful. As this is the first video of this type that I film I would love to hear your feedback – I am always trying to improve the quality of my content and your opinion is really crucial in this respect! πŸ™‚ So thanks to those of you who will share their thoughts, and I wish you all a great day!
