Galaxy Background with Nuvo Shimmer Powders and Mica Mists feat Inkroad Stamps + Discount Code

Hi everyone! Today I am back with a post and a video showing you how I created a galaxy background using

Nuvo Shimmer Powders and Nuvo Mica Mists.
The stamps I used today come from the gorgeous Majestic AF set by Inkroad stamps – I love the style of the illustrations and the sentiment really spoke to me. I might even frame this card and hang it over my desk for when I am in need of motivation 🙂
And I have some good news for you, because if you are a first time customer you can get 50% off your first order at the Inkroad Stamps is you purchase through this link. And if you are a returning customer you can use the code Laura10 for 10% off any order! I hope you will enjoy this little treat and take the opportunity to give yourself a well deserved present 🙂
Back to the card, I started  off with the background, and I used Nuvo Shimmer Powders in Cherry Bomb, Violet Brocade and Blue Blitz to create my galaxy. I worked on some Windsor and Newton Cotman watercolor cardstock that I had cut to an A2 size using the Studio Katia Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frames set. I added the powders over the cardstock and then spritzed them with water from a Distress Sprayer. I added a second layer, and once it was dry I used my Nuvo Mica Mists in Antique Gold to create the stars.
I sponged the edges of my panel with Distress Ink in Black Soot to give it the look of a night sky, and then started working on my images.

I used the beautiful unicorn and the florals in the Inkroad Stamps Majestic AF set. I stamped them with Versafine Onyx Black ink on some Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. I then colored them with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, using a waterbrush and my Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay pen to blend out the colors. I also created a color chart for your reference, where I share all the markers I used on my images.

Once I was done coloring the images I fussy cut them with my EK success cutterbee scissors and started assembling my card. I cut two vertical strips and an oval panel out of my galaxy background. I glued the strips to a top-folding A2 card base, and overlapped them with two black cardstock strips that will help me frame my focal panel.

For that I used the Darling Ribbon and Dotted Frame dies to cut some white cardstock, and I trimmed off its  sides using my Tonic Studios Guillotine Trimmer. I glued it to the center of my card and I added the oval die cut and the images as well.

I heat embossed the wonderful sentiment that reads “happiness is a form of courage” with gold embossing powder on some black cardstock and I glued it to my card base.

I also created a video tutorial showing the card making process, you can watch it down below or directly on my YouTube channel.

And that’s it for today! Don’t forget that, if you’d like to get your hands on this beautiful set, or any other stamp set on the Inkroad Stamps store, you use this link to get 50% off your first order, or, if you are a returning customer you can use the code Laura10 for 10% off any order (preorders of the new release too!)

I will be back soon with another fun project, and, in the meantime, I wish you all a great day!
