Watercoloring with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers feat Star Stampz for FFC#196

Hello everyone! Today I am back with a card I made for the Friday Funday Challenge over at the Jo’s Scrap Shack blog. This week’s sponsor is StarStampz and today I am featuring the wonderful Little Mermaid Chibi digi, which I printed on some Canson XL watercolor paper and colored with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. For the mermaid’s hair and tail I used my Spectrum Noir clear overlay pen to blend out my Zigs, and for the rest of the cards I simply used a waterbrush.
And here you can see the shimmer left by that Spectrum Noir pen…really beautiful!

Once I was done coloring I trimmed my front panel to about 3 1/2″ by 4 3/4″.
I then created two frames using patterned paper from the Doodlebug Under the Sea 6×6″ paper pad. For the outermost frame I used the MFT Stitched Rectangle Scalloped Frames Die Namics, whereas for the inner frame I proceeded as follows. I trimmed another piece of patterned paper from the Doodlebug Under the Sea 6×6″ paper pad to 4″ by 5 1/4″. I then used my WRMK Corner Chomper to round off the corners, and I cut an opening using the largest die from the MFT Inside Out Stitched Rectangle Die Namics. I glued the frames and my front panel together using some Tombow Mono Multi Liquid glue.

For the sentiment I took the little squared tag from the Avery Elle Wonky Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut some more Canson XL watercolor paper. I sponged the edges of the tag with Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass, colored the little hearth cutout with my Zigs, and coated it with my Spectrum Noir clear overlay pen. I used some scotch tape on the back of my tag to keep the heart cutout in place.
The scripty “hello” comes from a larger sentiment in the Lawn Fawn Mermaid for Each Other stamp set, and I stamped it on my tag using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
I then threaded some bakers twine through the hole on the tag, and used some scotch tape to tape down the loose ends of the twine on the back of my front panel.
I then glued everything to my card base, which is a piece of Canson XL watercolor paper cut at a standard A2 size card, using Tombow Mono Multi Liquid glue.
For some fun and dimension I also added some Nuvo Clear glitter drops on the little air bubbles in the image and let everything dry overnight.
And that’s it for today’s card! I really hope you liked it, and don’t forget to enter your projects in the current challenge over at the Jo’s Scrap Shack blog for a chance to win 3 digital stamps from the StarStampz shop!
