Hello everyone! Today I am on the Craftin Desert Divas blog with a fun project featuring the Halloweenies SVG Treat Bag Add Ons. These SVG files were released together with the September 2017 release, and will allow you to create very fun treat bags for Halloween! If you are unfamiliar with how to use SVG files, you can check out this very nice tutorial on the Craftin Desert Divas YouTube channel – it helped me a lot π
To start off this project I cut the different shapes for the little add on faces using my Silhouette Portrait. I picked cardstock in different colors, based on the particular element I was cutting. To make things easier, and to make sure that I was not going to lose any of the little cut outs, I stored them in small Ziploc bags. I wanted to assemble the witch, the bat, and the Frankenstein cat, so I put all the cut outs for each character in a separate bag. This way when I went ahead and glued everything together, I already had all the pieces sorted out. π
I then went ahead and cut three bags using the Treat Bag die – because of how the die is designed, this means that I cut six pieces of cardstock in total, two for each color. I tried to pick colors that I had already used to cut out the add-ons, so that everything matches nicely.
I also have a little suggestion for you: when I took apart all the additional dies in the Treat Bag set, I made sure not to remove the one that cuts the opening on the top of the bag, as you can see in the picture below. This way I am sure that it will always be placed correctly, and consistently across my cut outs. π
And at this point it was just a matter of gluing everything together. If you want a few tips on how to assemble the treat bags, you can check out this video tutorial on the Craftin Desert Divas channel. To assembled the characters I referred to the image file that comes with the SVG add-on and shows examples of how you can put the different little faces together.
I also cut a tag from some black cardstock using one of the dies in the Craftin Desert Divas Treat Bag set, and I tied it to the Frankenstein bag using some white and black bakers twine.
And that’s it for today’s post! I really loved how easy it was to assemble this fun little treat bags: it didn’t take a lot of effort at all, and the result is incredibly cute!
I really hope you enjoyed this post, and I hope I inspire you to create with this phone die set and the adorable Halloween is a dance! I will catch you guys soon with another fun project, and in the meantime I wish you all a great day!
