Prismacolor Colored Pencils on Kraft Cardstock – Studio Katia September 2017 Release Preview

Hello everyone! Today I am really excited to be back here on the blog with a card I made for the Studio Katia Release Preview – this is also my very first project as a member of the SK Design Team, so it’s twice as exciting! This card features the Sweet Holiday stamp set, as well as dies and embellishments from the September 2017 release.
When I saw these cute gingerbread people and the gingerbread house I was immediately inspired to color them with colored pencils on kraft cardstock.  So I stamped them on some Neenah Desert Storm cardstock with my Memento ink in Rich Cocoa, and used my Prismacolor pencils to color them in. I then went ahead and and die cut them using the dies that coordinate with the set. 

I also knew that I wanted to create a scene for my card with a starry sky and snowbanks. For the snowbanks I cut some white cardstock using the scalloped rectangle die in the Dotted Patterns – Scallop Frames set as well as the Stitched hillside border dies from the Mama Elephant Landscape Trio set. 
For the sky I thought it would look more interesting and more in line with the feel of this card if created it out of kraft cardstock. I therefore used the scalloped rectangle die in the new Dotted Patterns – Scallop Rectangle set to die cut some more  Neenah Desert Storm cardstock. I then heat embossed the sentiment with some white embossing powder by Ranger, and after that I created my starry sky:  I stamped the star image in the Sweet Holiday set in a random pattern with Versamark ink, and I did some more heat embossing using Nuvo clear glitter embossing powder. 

For my card base I layered some heavyweight white cardstock cut to 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″ with some red cardstock cut to 4 1/8″ by 5 3/8″. I thought this would help me frame my scene and tie in the red elements in the stamped images with the rest of the card. I then glued everything to my card base, and, for a finishing touch, I added a few of the newly released Snow Crystals around the sentiment.
