Spellbinders New Collections Inspiration Blog Hop + Giveaway!

Handmade Card Destination China Spellbinders

Hi everyone! Today I am really excited to be joining the Spellbinders New Collections Inspiration Blog Hop! In this super fun hop, you will see projects created with products from the Exquisite Splendor collection by Marisa Job, the Great, Big, Wonderful World by Sharyn Sowell and the Destinations China by Lene Lok. Make sure to hop along and to read this post until the end, because there is a giveaway too! πŸ˜‰

For my cards today I used products from the Destinations China collection and I created two different designs.
For the first card I used the Lucky Clouds Etched Dies and the Lanterns Etched Dies
The Lucky Clouds set includes a rectangle die and a very intricate and really gorgeous cloudy background die. I was really excited to use it on my card, and I know already that I will be using it a lot in the future!

I started off my card by cutting some white and some light blue cardstock with the the rectangle die in the Lucky Clouds set. I then die cut the blue cardstock with the cloud background panel and glued it to my white cardstock panel.

Next, I used one of the dies in the Lanterns set to cut some red cardstock, as well as some gold cardstock from the Spellbinders Platinum Pack 3
For the sentiment I die cut some black cardstock using two of the dies in the Spellbinders Sew Sweet Sentiments set.

I matted my cloudy sky on some black cardstock, cut at a standard A2 size and mounted everything on a top-folding A2 card base.

For my second card I combined the Lanterns Etched Dies with the Traditional Fence Etched Dies.
Much like the Lucky Clouds, the Traditional Fence set comes with a base square die, and two additional dies that cut the detail of the fence.

For my card base I die cut some wine red and vanilla cardstock using the square die in the  Traditional Fence set. I then used one of the two detailed dies to cut a fence pattern in my red cardstock panel. I layered the two panels, adding vellum in between for an extra detail.

I then used another of the dies in the Lanterns set to die cut some more red, white and gold cardstock. I layered the different die cuts to build my lantern. And look at all that detail! So pretty!

For my sentiment I used again the with love dies from Spellbinders Sew Sweet Sentiments set. I die cut the words out of white and black carstock, and overlapped them to create a drop shadow effect.

I mounted everything on a top folding A2 card base and that finished off my second card.

Both cards are beautiful but I really love the first one with the Lucky Clouds background, it's such a cool design and look. I have always thought Asian inspired designs look so elegant and rich so I was thrilled to see this Destinations China collection from Spellbinders. Thank you for sharing both cards and the awesome inspiration! (mardy14@bellsouth.net)
