Quick and Easy Watercolor-Effect Background with Tone on Tone Stamping – C.C. Designs Valentine Animals

Hi everyone! Today I am back with a post and a video where I will share how I created this sweet Valentine’s day card with the C.C. Designs Valentine Animals and the Hearts and Arrows Background Rubber Stamp
For the background of the card I used Distress Oxides and a very easy and super fast technique to create an ombrΓ© watercolor effect – make sure to watch the video below to check it out! I used Festive Berries, Work Lipstick and Spun Sugar on Ranger Watercolor Cardstock. I then used the same colors to create a stamped pattern on the background with the Hearts and Arrows background stamp.
As an additional background element I die cut some white cardstock with the C.C. Designs Quad Collage die, and I then moved on to color my images. For today’s card I chose the newly released Valentine Animals stamp set. I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock and colored them with Spectrum Noir Markers. And here is a color chart for you to use a reference.
Once I was done coloring I die cut the images with the C.C. Designs Valentine Animals Outline Dies. For the sentiment I decided to do some heat embossing on brown cardstock. I used white embossing powder by WOW! and one of the sentiments in the Valentine Animals set. I used one of the dies in the Quad Collage Fun Cutters to die cut the sentiment banner.

At this point I had all my elements ready and I could go ahead and assemble my card. I adhered everything flat to my background with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and mounted it on a top-folding A2 card base. I decorated the inside of the card with some leftover images, you can see it in the video at the end of this post.

I love adding finishing touches to my cards, and for this one I added some details with a white Gelly Roll Pen, some shimmer with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Pen, and some gloss and dimension with Glossy Accents.
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I created a video tutorial to show you how to create this sweet Valentine’s day card with a Distress Oxide background. You can watch it down below or directly on my YouTube channel. And don’t forget to share, like and subscribe if you liked it!

And that’s my card for today! Before I go I wanted to let you know that you can use code LAURV90 for 5% off the C.C. Designs store
