Jenn has been running this series for a few years now and I cannot tell you how excited I am to be joining! Every month there will be some holiday card making inspiration and this way we will not only get more use of our Christmas stamps, but will also not run short on Christmas cards next year! Don’t forget to visit Jenn’s blog because she is offering a prize over there!
Lastly, make sure to read this post until the end, because there is a video tutorial waiting for you!
For my card today I used one of my favorite stamp sets from the past holiday season, which I had not had the chance to use yet! It is the My Favorite Things Snow Buddies set and I love it! I stamped the images on Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock with Spectrum Noir Black alcohol proof ink and I colored them with my Illustrator markers.
For the sky background I used the My Favorite Things Stitched Rounded Rectangle dies to die cut some Yupo paper. I created my sky with alcohol inks in different shades of purples and pinks.
I then combined the Stitched Rounded Rectangle dies with the Stitched Snow Drifts and Hills, also by My Favorite Things, to create a hill. I added some shading to it with Spectrum Noir Harmony Ink in the color Oasis and my Studio Katia Blending Brushes.
For the card base I die cut some watercolor cardstock with the Mama Elephant Cloud Nine dies. I used Ranger White Matte Texture Paste and the My Favorite Things Pine Tree Forest Stencil to create a white on white textured background. It is hard to see in the pictures, but the effect in real life is really great!
I raised the focal panel over my background with some foam tape, for added dimension.
I mounted everything on a top-folding A2 card base and, as a finishing touch, I added Glossy Accents to the sentiment die cut.
