Hi everyone!I hope you are all safe and healthy and are coping well with the current situation. Today I am back to share with you a post and a video showing three different ways to create rainbows with Distress Inks, as well as six different card examples! Lots of fun colors to brighten your day!
The video will go through the step by step process, so make sure to watch it for an in depth explanation of how to create these cards!
Cards 1&2: Bright rainbow background
For the first pair of cards I went for a bright rainbow background. Here is the list of colors I used, from top to bottom
- Wilted Violet
- Picked Raspberry
- Spiced Marmalade
- Mustard Seed
- Mowed Lawn
- Salty Ocean
I started by die cutting some watercolor cardstock with the Darling Ribbon and Frames dies and I then blended my inks. I also added some water droplets for extra interest.
I then used the Balloons die to cut out part of my background. I did the same with white cardstock, so that I could create two cards.
The stamp set I used to go with this cheerful color combination is the Honey Bees stamp set. I colored the images with Illustrator markers and die cut them with the coordinating dies.
For the sentiments on both cards I used the Lovely Words dies and one of the greetings in the Honey Bees set. I used the Peony Trimmings coordinating dies to create a banner for the heat embossed sentiment.
Cards 3&4 – Pastel Rainbow
For my second card I decided to create a pastel rainbow. I started again from some watercolor cardstock that I had die cut with the Darling Ribbon and Frames dies. Here are the Distress Ink colors I chose for this background:
- Shaded Lilac
- Spun Sugar
- Dried Marigold
- Squeezed Lemonade
- Twisted Citron
- Tumbled Glass
The die that I used to cut out a portion of my background is the Fancy Scalloped Hearts. Also in this case I created two cards by swapping the ink blended and white die cut hearts.
The images I used on this second set of cards are part of the Kobiβs Hugs and Kisses stamp set. They were colored with Illustrator Markers and die cut with the coordinating dies.
To finish off the cards, added the sentiment βlove youβ, that I die cut out of some black cardstock using the Lovely Words dies.
Cards 5&6 – Vintage rainbow
For my last set of cards, I decided to go with a more muted, almost vintage rainbow palette. Here are the colors I chose:
- Dusty Concord
- Victorian Velvet
- Rusty Hinge
- Fossilized Amber
- Crushed Olive
- Stormy Sky
This time I used the Fancy Scalloped Circles to create my focal point and the Cactus Hugs stamp set for my images.
For my coloring I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. I also created a banner out of some kraft cardstock, that I used to ground my images.
I die cut the word hugs with another die in the Lovely Words set and I glued it to the card fronts, overlapping it with the banner.
And these are my cards for today! Each set is nice and colorful, and quite quick to create!
