Shutter Card feat My Favorite Things Happy Hedgehogs | The Hedgehog Hollow Hop + Giveaways

Hi everyone! Today I am back with a fun interactive card I created for the Hedgehog Hollow Video Hop on YouTube! The theme is hedgehogs and this prompted me to use the adorable Happy Hedgehogs stamp set by My Favorite Things for this cute shutter card!
The video hop is sponsored by the Hedgehog Hollow and there are giveaways, too! If you want to know more make sure to watch the video at the end of this post! 🙂

For the shutter mechanism I used the My Favorite Things Shutter Card Components dies.
I created a gatefold card base out of some kraft cardstock: I cut the card at 8.5×5.5″ and scored it at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″. I then die cut the shutter components out of some vanilla cardstock and adhered them to the inside of the card.
I also created a wide strip out of some brown cardstock, and die cut a circular opening with another die in the My Favorite Things Shutter Card Components set.

The images I used for today’s card are part of the Happy Hedgehogs and the Fall Friends stamp sets, by My Favorite Things. I stamped them with MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink on Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock and colored them with Spectrum Noir markers. Once I was done coloring, I fussy cut the images with my EK Success Cutterbee scissors.

I created a quick background for the hedgehog that will be behind the shutter mechanism. To do that, I blended Distress Oxides in Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean on some Neenah Solar White cardstock using my Scrapbook.com Blending Brushes.
I stamped the sentiment on some vanilla cardstock and die cut a banner with one of the dies in the My Favorite Things Blueprints 27 Die-Namics.

I glued everything to the inside of the card and moved on to decorate the front.

In order to keep the gatefold card closed, I created a band out of the same kraft, brown and vanilla cardstocks that I had used on the inside of the card.

I used the Blueprints 37 Die-Namics by My Favorite Things to “dress up” the band a little. I also stamped the Hello, Friend sentiment and added a hedgehog and and a squirrel to it.

To spice up the front of the card, I created a patterned paper-like design with the smaller images in the Happy Hedgehogs and Fall Friends stamp sets. I mounted them on an acrylic block and stamped them with Lawn Fawn white pigment ink in a random pattern.

I added some highlights with a white Gelly Roll Pen by Sakura, and that finished off my card.

As I mentioned at the beginning of the post, I created this cart to join the Hedgehog Hollow Hop on YouTube. There is a lot of inspiration and there are giveaways too! If you are interested, make sure to watch the video below for more details and to see how I created today’s card!
