Heffy Doodle and Catherine Pooler Collaboration Blog Hop!

Handmade Card with Gift Card Holder - Heffy Doodle Quill You Be Mine and Catherine Pooler Inks

Hi everyone! Today I am really thrilled to be part of the Heffy Doodle and Catherine Pooler Designs Collaboration Blog Hop! Our design teams have come together to share some inspiration with the new Heffy Doodle and Catherine Pooler releases, and there is a prize up for grabs, too! More on that at the end of this post, but for now let’s have a look at the project I created for the hop.

I decided to go for a cute love card with a gift card holder, courtesy of the Heffy Doodle Heart Gift Card Pocket Die (HD | SBK | EH) . The card also features the Heffy Doodle Quill You Be Mine stamps and the Catherine Pooler Ink GeoCurves and So Happy Sentiments sets.
Let’s have a look at how I created it!

CARD BACKGROUND AND GIFT CARD HOLDER

Both the card background and the gift card holder feature a DIY patterned paper, created with Catherine Pooler stamps and inks.
For my background I used the GeoCurves stamp set (CP | SBC | EH) and inks in the colors Aquatini (CP | SBC | EH) , Mardi Gras (CP | SBC | EH) and Lime Rickey (CP | SBC | EH).

I added a stitched detail to my panel with the Heffy Doodle Clover Frames dies (HD | SBC) and created the black frame with the Skinny Imperial Rectangle Frames (HD | SBC | EH).

For the Gift Card Holder I used the So Happy Sentiments set (CP | SBC | EH) and ink in the colors Be Mine (CP | SBC | EH) , Tiki Torch (CP | SBC | EH) and Tiara (CP | SBC | EH). I did the same for the tiny love note I added inside the pocket.

IMAGES

The images I used are part of the Heffy Doodle Quill You Be Mine stamp set (HD | SBC | EH) . I stamped them on Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock with black ink and I colored them with Illustrator markers.

Here is a list of the markers I used

Hedgehogs Bodies: TN5, TN3, TN1
Hedgehogs Quills: TN9, TN7, TN5
Blushes: CR2
Heart and Flower Balloon Petals: MG3, MG2, MG1
Flower Balloon Center: BO3, BO1, GY1

Once I was done coloring the images, I die cut them with the coordinating dies (HD | SBC | EH) . I raised the two hedgehogs on the lower portion of the card with some foam tape.

SENTIMENT

For the sentiment I used the Happy X Three dies by Catherine Pooler (CP | SBK | EH) and some Heffy Doodle Oreo Crunch (HD | SBK ) and Hint of Mint Cardstock (HD | SBK ) . I coated the black die cut with a Spectrum Noir clear overlay pen and Glossy Accents (RNG| SBK | EH) , for some added sparkle and shine.

I completed the greeting with one of the sayings in the So Happy Sentiments stamp set. I stamped it with Aquatini ink and I die cut a banner around it with the Heffy Doodle Strips of Ease (HD | EH) and More Strips of Ease dies (HD | SBC | EH) .

MINI LOVE NOTE

Using the Skinny Imperial Rectangle Frames, I created the mini love note for the inside of my gift card holder. I created again a custom patterned paper effect and used another image from the Quill You Be Mine stamp set.

I stamped the sentiment I love you from the Veggie Patch Stamp set by Heffy Doodle using Aquatini Ink. I created a black frame to match the design on my card front, using another die from the Heffy Doodle Skinny Imperial Rectangle Frames dies.

This is totally adorble, Laura! I love the bright happy colors, those adorable critters and how you included the mini envelope and love note! So sweet!!!

  2. KT Hom

Love these adorable critters! My son likes to make hedgehog cookies (with crushed almonds on their backs of chocolate and mini chocolate chip eyes) and this stamp set would make the perfect card when giving away his cute cookie creation!

  3. Laura Miller

Wonderful bright and cheery colors. Loved the layout with the little envelope on the front with a special message inside. At first – I barely noticed there was an envelope there – well disguised.

I have loved hedgehogs ever since I took a trip to England. So cute! Love the expressions on their sweet stamp faces. TFS.

  7. Andrea Hastilow

So so cute, in the UK there is a movement that’s trying to help safe hedgehogs numbers from declining, your bright happy design would go amazing with their message. x
