One Layer Christmas Card | Mama Elephant Oh Kitty Tree

One Layer Christmas Card feat Oh Kitty Tree Mama Elephant

Hey everyone! It is the third Thursday of the month, and this means that it is time to Get Cracking on Christmas! This is a fun monthly event organized by the sweet Jenn Shurkus, aimed at building a stash of Christmas cards throughout the year. It is also a great way to keep using some of our neglected holiday supplies!

You can join the fun as well and by sharing your cards you will be entered a giveaway sponsored by Jenn! You will find all the details on her blog!

IMAGES

The stamp set that I used for today’s card is the Mama Elephant Oh Kitty Tree. I started by die cutting some Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock with the Mama Elephant Cloud Nine die. I then stamped my image with Pebble Ink by Spectrum Noir and colored it with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers.

For kitties I used different shades of warm greys, pretty much using every marker in the BG family. For my reds I used DR7, DR5 and DR2 and for the rest of the smaller details I used BGR5, BGR3 and BGR1.

BACKGROUND

For the background of my card I did some masked ink blending. I created a mask for the images with some removable packaging labels and for the snowy hill I used the My Favorite Things Drifts and Hills stencil.

The inks I used are Spectrum Noir Water Reactive Harmony Inks and I blended them with my Studio Katia blending brushes. I used Jet Black, Midnight and Ocean Blue for the sky and Baby Blue for the snow. I created some silver stars using my Gansai Tambi Starry Colors.

SENTIMENT AND FINISHING TOUCHES

I stamped the greeting using Candy Apple ink by PinkFresh Studio and I die cut the banner using one of the dies in the Heffy Doodle Tag Along dies. I guess this makes my card not technically a one layer card, but it’s only a tiny sentiment banner, after all! Right?!

I also added some highlights with a white gel pen and some shimmer with a Scrapbook.com Glitter Brush Pen.
