Background

Slimline Rainbow Birthday Card Studio Katia

For the background of my card I used the new Dotted Slimline Set 2 dies. The set includes three different dies and used each of them to create the panels for my card. All the panels were die cut out of Spectrum Noir Watercolor Cardstock.

I started from the base panel, where I created some black stripes with Distress Ink in Black Soot and the masking technique. I used some washi tape from my stash to do the masking.
I then created an ink blended rainbow on the scalloped slimline rectangle, using Distress Inks. I chose Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Salty Ocean, Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed and Carved Pumpkin. I added some water droplets as well as some sparkle with Liquid Pixie Dust.

I glued the three panels together, using some foam tape to raise the scalloped rectangle over the base.

For my images I used the Mini Birthday Cake stamp set. I stamped three cakes on Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock and I colored them with Illustrator Markers. Here is a list of the markers I used

Cake Sponge: GB5, GB3, GB1
Cake Filling: EB8, TN9, TN6
Candles: IG3
Candle Flame: BO1, CT4
Purple Glaze: PV4, PV3, PV2, PV1
Blue Glaze: BT8, BT6, BT3
Green Glaze: AG3, AG1, CG1

Once I was done coloring, I die cut everything with the coordinating dies.

sentiment and finishing touches

For my greeting I used the Happy Celebrations stamp set and the Chunky Alphabet Dies. I die cut the word happy out of some black cardstock and coated it with a glitter brush pen.

For the word birthday I did some stamping using Distress Oxides in the same rainbow colors as my background. I used finger daubers to ink up different sections of the stamp and I trimmed a small banner around the stamped word.

Beautiful, colorful, fun card. I haven’t made any slimline cards, but the design is really growing on me. Love (and need) that Chunky Alphabet die set!

So happy and bright! I have loved slimline cards for so long I am glad they are coming into style now. I was getting a little bored with just the regular clean and simple A2 size cards. Thank you!
