Custom Heat Embossed Background | Scrapbook.com Premium Clear Embossing Ink + Reinker

Hi everyone! I am back here on the blog with a little bit of a break from a long row of Christmas cards – I have instead a fun Halloween card with a custom heat embossed background!
I had the opportunity to use the new Scrapbook.com Premium Embossing Ink for this card and I have to say that it works great! The coverage is nice and smooth, and there is also a reinker available –   I find it a great way to save waste and money at the same time, as you don’t have to keep buying ink pads!
There is also a video tutorial at the end of this post, if you are interested in the step by step process for the creation of this fun Halloween card (that would double up as a fun friendship card, imho)!

The stamp sets I used on this card are the Scrapbook.com Fall Sampler set, which I used recently on another card too, and the Hocus Pocus stamp set by Waffle Flower. I colored the images with my Nuvo alcohol markers and embossed the sentiment with Lime Green embossing powder by Ranger.

For the circular panel I used a fun technique with Distress Oxides on Glossy cardstock. I first covered my cardstock with Distress Oxides in Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade. I then used the ink smooshing technique, drying each layer before moving on to the next. Lastly, I used my Domed Ink Blenders to coat the entire panel with Distress Micro Glaze. This reacts with the Oxides and makes them look super bright and vibrant. You have to watch this in my video and try it yourself – it’s so fun!

For the background of my card I decided to create a patterned paper effect, but instead of stamping my images, I heat embossed them with the same Lime Green embossing powder that I used on my sentiment. And I have to say that I love the look!

For some finishing touches, I added highlights with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen and a few details on the witches with Glow in the Dark Nuvo Drops.

And here is the video tutorial for you, I hope you’ll enjoy it and find it useful!
