The EASIEST Way to Make Light Up Cards! | Pear Blossom Press Video Hop + Giveaway!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well and staying safe! Today I am back to share with you a SUPER EASY way to create light up cards! I have always been a little intimidated by this type of cards, but I have had the chance to test the EZ-Lights by Pear Blossom Press and they make the process really easy!

Don’t miss the video at the end of this post for a step by step tutorial! The video is also part of a hop with giveaways, even more of a reason to check it out! πŸ˜‰

background

To create my galaxy background this time I used Nuvo Shimmer Powders. The make the whole process super quick and easy and add a beautiful shimmer to the project!

I started from some watercolor cardstock, cut to 4×5.25″. I sprinkled my Shimmer Powders in the colors Violet Brocade, Cherry Bomb, Solar Flare and Blue Blitz and I activated them with water.
Next, I blended Distress Inks in Black Soot and Blueprint Sketch on the panel, in order to darken it up a little. I completed the galaxy background with some stars, that I created with white acrylic paint and Gansai Tambi Starry Colors.

Images

For my images today I used the Heffy Doodle You’re Weird and Spaced Out stamp sets. I stamped them with Scrapbook.com Premium Black Dye ink and I colored them with my Illustrator markers. Here is a list of the markers I used:

Pink Alien: BP1, BP3, BP5, BP7. LV3, HB1
Teal Alien: BT1, BT3, BT5, BT9. BP1, BP5
Space Ship, Glass: BT1, BT3, BT5
Space Ship, Base: JG1, JG3, JG5, JG7. CG1, AG1, AG3, AG5
Space Ship, Lights: LY1, BO2
Large Planet: EB4, MB4, MB3, MB2, MB1
Pink Planets: BP1, BP3, BP5, BP7. LV3, HB1
Green Planets
Green Planet, Ring: JG1, JG3, JG5

Once I was done coloring, I die cut everything with the coordinating dies. One of the dies in the You’re Weird set also cuts out some tiny holes on the lights of the space ship – the perfect place for our LED’s!

Light-Up Card Assembly

At this point I could go ahead and put my light up card together. I die cut some black cardstock to an A2 size using the largest die in the Heffy Doodle Imperial Stitched Rectangles. This will be the base where I will mount my EZ-Lights.

I cut a slit in my galaxy background, where I wanted the lights to shine behind the spaceship. I adhered the EZ lights to the black panel and added some foil behind them to reflect the light and get an even brighter result!

I mounted the galaxy background to the card base with two layers of foam tape and I adhered the rest of the images to create this fun scene!

sentiment and finishing touches

The greetings I used are part of the You’re Weird and interactively yours stamp set by Heffy Doodle. I stamped them on black cardstock using LDRS Snowy White ink and adhered them to my card front. I added a bit of shimmer with a glitter brush pen by Scrapbook.com and that finished off my card.
