Quick and Beautiful Christmas Card |Tips for Last Minute Holiday Card Making

Raise your hand if you are always late with Christmas cards! I know I am and when that happens I am always on the lookout for ideas and products that will help me create some quick cards, that still look pretty!

Well, today’s I am going to show you one one example of that and I am sharing a few tips on how to speed up your holiday card making!

Before moving on, a little heads up that if any of the products shown today strike your fancy, you may want to take advantage of the World Cardmaking Day Sales that are happening now over on Scrapbook.com! Lots on brands are on sale and there will be freebies, too! You can check out all the promotions here

Tip #1: Use Decorative Dies

Dies can come in very handy when it comes to quick cardmaking. There are plenty of beautiful dies out there that can really be the star of the show on your cards!
Can you see it in here? I used this beautiful snowflake die to create an interesting focal point on my panel. It was literally as fast as running the die through my machine!

And, bonus points, this die already created an area for my sentiment, making the design process super straightforward! I emphasized the area behind the snowflake with some soft ink blending, and…done!

(And just FIY…besides the snowflake, similar dies are also available in rainbow and heart shapes...you can use them all year around and use today’s tips for literally any last minute card you need to make!)

Tip #2: Use Small Images (If Any)

If you follow me you know I can hardly resist a cute critter. However, coloring may take up time that we don’t have, especially if we have to create our cards in a rush. With dies like this one you don’t really need an image, as they are perfect to act as your focal point.

However, if you are like me and you absolutely must have cute critters on your cards, small images are your friends. They are easy and quick to color and you can get away with using fewer markers. The one I chose here is part of the Lawn Fawn Winter Dragon stamp set – the cutest mini set! In this case I used Illustrator markers, but of course you can chose the coloring medium you prefer!

Tip #3: Use Pre Cut Card Bases

Another great time saver are precut card fronts and bases. The ones I used there are Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock – I used the same paper for the image and the snowflake as well.
It will save you so much time, especially if you need to make cards in bulk!

Tip #4: Quick Accents to take it up a notch

Lastly, there are some really quick details you can add to take your cards a step further. They do not require a lot of time, but will make your cards even more special – and the recipient even more amazed!

Some quick droplets with Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls are always great to add detail and shimmer to your backgrounds. Clear Nuvo Drops (or even faster, clear enamel dots) add such a magical touch without taking too much attention away from your project. Try them and you’ll be surprised by how much difference they make!

And that’s it for today! I really hope you found this post useful and don’t forget to share your tips for quick cardmaking in the comments below!
